EASST Evidence Summit
The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) and the East African Social Science Translation (EASST) Collaborative, in partnership with the World Bank Strategic Impact Evaluation Fund (SIEF) and the University of Dar es Salaam, will host the 2016 East Africa Evidence Summit, to be held July 12-14, 2016 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The 2016 East Africa Evidence Summit will feature several events to showcase rigorous evidence in East Africa. The first day will provide an overview of impact evaluation methods and highlight how East Africa can use rigorous evidence to improve their policy effectiveness and reach development goals in the region. This will be followed by the 5th Annual EASST Impact Evaluation Summit, which will feature research presentations by EASST faculty and researchers on their latest findings and allow social scientists from East Africa to exchange ideas and build linkages with development organizations, local NGOs, civil society organizations, government officials, and journalists. The third day will feature a half-day workshop on Research Transparency intended for researchers interested in learning how to increase the transparency and reproducibility of research in the social sciences.
Building off of the momentum of the EASST summit, CEGA will host a high-level policy event on Thursday, July 14th to mark the launch of its new Energy for Economic Growth (EEG) research program. The event, which is invite-only, will focus on the dissemination of new evidence in the energy sector in East Africa, as well as the identification of high-priority research questions to address through EEG.
