Towards Transparency in Microbiological Sciences

Chris LeBoa

While replication is neccesary in the biological sciences, outcome definition, protocol deviations, and the firewalls of academic piublication make research transparency in the microbiological sciences a challenge. This initiative will introduce tools and practices such as pre-analysis plans, transparent data collection platforms, and reproducible data workflows to scientists working in the microbiological sciences. Emphasizing two-way learning, the workshops will encourage participants to share local practices for research transparency and challenges they face for doing transparent science, fostering a collaborative space rather than a top-down instructional format. Outputs will include bilingual training materials, a proposed workflow for transparency in microbiological research, and a GitHub repository for public access. The initiative aims to support open science practices in Ecuador and inform future training programs globally.
