Strengthening Transparency and Reproducibility Capacity through Training and Curricular Integration to Drive Systemic Change Metascience (Methods and Archival Science)

Caroline Jelagat Sitienei Koech

This project seeks to strengthen transparency and reproducibility capacity at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology through a targeted training of faculty, and integration of transparency and reproducibility modules into existing graduate programs, contributing to systemic change in teaching, research and supervision. A recent Training Needs Assessment on Open Science at our institution revealed significant skill gaps in transparency and reproducibility among faculty, as well lack of institutional incentives and policies. To address these gaps, the project will leverage the expertise of the project lead who was trained by BITSS, and the expertise of a multidisciplinary institutional team including the Director of Research, University Librarian, Academic Dean and a faculty representative. Activities include faculty training, co-design of curriculum integration framework, curricular integration, and collaborative development of policy recommendations. By embedding transparency and reproducibility into individual practice and institutional systems, we enhance credibility, visibility, and impact of our research.
