Garret Christensen Economics
Garret Christensen is a Senior Research Economist with the FDIC’s Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection and a non-resident scholar at BITSS. His interests include housing and consumer finance, poverty programs, and meta-science and reproducibility. Prior to the FDIC, Garret was an Economist for the US Census Bureau, and was a Project Scientist with the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (BITSS) and a Fellow with the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS). He also conducted water, sanitation, and hygiene research in Kenya for Innovations for Poverty Action and Emory University and taught economics at Swarthmore College. He received his PhD in economics from UC Berkeley in 2011. He has also run more than 115 ultramarathons and walked from border to border across the entire United States four complete times.
