Nerissa Nance BITSS CatalystPublic Health

Nerissa is a self-described data enthusiast and program evaluation nerd. She currently works with the Institute of Public Health of Mexico (INSP), where she leads a Gates-funded impact evaluation of the effect of management practices on HIV service delivery. Prior to her time at INSP, Nerissa completed her MPH degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UC Berkeley. At Berkeley, she worked with Dr. Sandra McCoy on an evaluation of a prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission services in Tanzania. Over the course of her professional career, she has lived or worked in six different countries across Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa. Nerissa is passionate about development research that informs real-world policy decisions. She became interested in transparency while she was working for CEGA in 2014, when the BITSS initiative was incipient. She has since striven to make her work as transparent and replicable as possible, and is eager for opportunities to improve others’ understanding of the foundations and implementation of these guiding principles.
