Melissa is a doctoral research fellow at Université Paris Descartes, Sorbonne Paris Cité and The University of Split as a part of the Methods in Research on Research (MiRoR) Project. Her PhD, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, focuses on reporting guidelines for observational studies (STROBE) and aims to increase the use of the STROBE guidelines. Other research interests include transparent reporting, public health communication, mental health, multiple sclerosis, and intersex/differences of sex development.

She also holds a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University.
